Counter Strike Global Offensive had an update recently which broke the Linux Steam version as it simply won't launch. Just a black screen and then nothing. Luckily there is a temporary fix out there and instructions are below and look at the screencast below for a visual guide on how to fix it. It takes a while to boot it up after the fix but as you can see it works! Enjoy!

From Steam Libray Enable Beta for the game (1.36.5.9)
go to ./home/username/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/Counter-Strike Global Offensive/bin/linux64 and make a copy of filesystem_stdio_client.so and move it somewhere else
go back to steam library and change beta back to none
replace the copy of filesystem_stdio_client.so with the one found here ./home/administrator/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/Counter-Strike Global Offensive/bin/linux64
