Today we are looking at how to install any version of Kdenlive on Ubuntu 18.04. Kdenlive is one of my favorite apps, and I edit all my videos with Kdenlive. The only problem with Kdenlive is that it is difficult to get the latest version of Kdenlive if you are not using Arch or the flatpak repository. For a while, I really wanted to use the latest version of Kdenlive so I settled on using the appimages as shown in the video and the steps below. It works really well and very stable, the only problem with this method is that it does not update itself. A person needs to download the appimage every time move it to any place on your system you like and update the path/command in your menu editor. The reason why I use the /opt directory is that many third-party apps use this location to store their app data so it is a great location. Enjoy!
Instructions:
1) Download Kdenlive
2) Set permissions
3) Move to /opt directory
sudo nautilus
4) Add to menu
sudo apt install alacarte
5) Add icon
/var/lib/app-info/icons/ubuntu-bionic-universe/64x64 (icon location)
